Can You Steal the Raise?
I am the first to admit that when I hit the poker online tables I am thinking about the large pot that hopefully awaits me at the end of the hand. Many of the strategic decisions that I make at the poker online table are based on the idea that I want that pot to be as large as possible by the time that it reaches my hands. One strategy that many people try to use to bolster the pot is called “steal-raise”. This strategy comes into play when everyone else at the table has checked. After the table has checked, you would then raise the bet.
The idea is that the other players will be so frightened by the apparent monster in your hand that they will immediately fold. You would then be able to take the pot, effectively stealing the pot with no resistance. Of course, this strategy only works if you have at least a decent hand. If you don’t have the cards to win against the other players, there is very little point in attesting this online poker strategy. The chances of everyone folding are very low, so you will need a few good cards to win the showdown against the last couple of stragglers.
