Lonely No More

For one, I cannot say I’m downright happy living alone and remain an honest woman. However, I’m not uncomfortable in that way, either. I only mention it in this blog as an intriguing little tidbit introducing what I am about to unravel!

Last Monday yours truly met for coffee with Trisha, thinking of buying a membership to a Dallas Singles dating service. As of this minute, I stand to the blogosphere as a fully satisfied member of the dating service. Seriously, it’s true. It’s great! If you’ve been paying attention, you’re probably thinking, “You got some ’splainin to do, Lucy!”

So, I saw this Great Expectations Dating site and liked what I saw. They’re for the honest singles who know dating should have a point.

Because in all honesty I’d never been interested in this silly social phenomenon a lot of singles have christened “The Dating Game.” I faced it more than you know. Each night they pester, “Are you seeing somebody?” and “Oh I know just the guy for you!”

“Baloney!” I say to them, without missing a beat. “Have you seen what’s out there?”

“Don’t be silly,” they reply. “How would you know, you haven’t seen Friday Night Magic in a year!”

Thankfully, that’s my friend The One-And-Only (hehe) Patty McCarthy. She offers the best ideas to my mind to set me straight. Friends you can trust for fresh advice. She made a good point, and I joined.

Returning to the meaning of this essay. As I selected from more than three hundred quality singles for my first singles event with Great Expectations, I acknowledged something true. Over the last year, I hadn’t entertained any emotional great expectations for dating in the adventurous path of being alive. Single life has its perks, even more so with healthy optimism. Embracing your own great expectations makes a difference for a caring soul.
