Help – I Need Traffic To My Website

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

It’s no secret, the lifeblood of any website is the amount of traffic that consistently visits it on a daily basis. Generally speaking large amounts of traffic leads to an increase in sales and income. Poor traffic leads to disappointment and zero dollars in your pocket. This article outlines some simple techniques I use to drive traffic to my websites.

I have 4 primary methods that I use to drive traffic to my website. They include writing articles, link exchanges, pay-per-click advertising and classified ads. Some of the methods are free but require a little more elbow grease while other methods require less work but do require an initial investment of money in order to get them started.

The main method I use to attract traffic to my website is to write articles similar to the one you are reading. Based on my personal experiences this is the best way to encourage visitors to your website and I truly wish I had started using this method earlier. The beauty behind writing articles is the power it has to drastically improve your website both in terms of relevancy to the search engines and in visitors. For instance when I write an article I do so with the intent to encourage the reader of that article to visit my websites, this is benefit number 1. The second benefit occurs when other webmasters utilize that same article as content on their websites. This has the potential to send more visitors to your web page.

Finally the biggest advantage to writing articles comes from the automatic link-back to your website. Everyone knows the advantages a good link exchange program can provide to a website. When a Webmaster publishes one of my articles on their website they have to include my signature block. This block of information contains links to some of my websites – which is how I earn a one-way link exchange back to my websites. This method increases my website’s popularity with the search engine Google.

A good link exchange program is vital to the success of your website and can help attract visitors. Search engines such as Google use links back to your website as a means for determining the page rank of a website. This page rank is beneficial to a websites’ success and placement in the search engine directory.

Probably the easiest way to immediately send traffic to your website is through the use of pay-per-click search engines. Although there is a cost involved when using this method you are guaranteed to receive traffic that is truly interested in your product or service. This method can also be used to test new ideas to make sure they will be profitable before fully releasing them. Again remember no traffic is the same as no sales.

Classified ads allow you another opportunity to entice visitors to your website. The downside is that money is again forced to leave your possession before you actually make any sales. This method of traffic generation is similar to the PPC search engine technique described above.

As I mentioned earlier I use the four methods described above to generate visitors to my websites. Although these aren’t the only methods I use, they are the techniques that have worked best for me when it comes to generating qualified traffic and making a decent income online.

Build Links, Build Business

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Increasing your online business hinges on your ability to optimize your web page for the search engines. While different search engines look for different things, some of the larger and more popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo, look for keywords and links. Keywords are important because the Internet is made up of words; however links are just as important because they allow the search engines to weigh your web page in terms of popularity, so to speak.

Of course, you might be wondering how you can possibly get links to your web page in order to increase your search engine results. Fortunately, you have several options. You can offer to pay individuals and webmasters for a link to your site and you can also offer a reciprocal link trade.

A reciprocal link trade works because most web pages are interested in increasing their search engine rankings and traffic so most will be willing to host a link to your site if you host a link to theirs. The easiest way to achieve this is to target web sites that apply to your target market, but are not in direct competition with your products and services. Then, put up a link to their site and send the webmaster an e-mail asking for a reciprocal link. The webmaster will then either link to your web page, or not. If not, simply delete the link to that web page and start the process over. It will be successful most of the time, but if not don’t get angry, just keep looking for other sites.

Links are the backbone of any successful website. Without them, you have little to no traffic. In order for your website to gain valuable exposure, you need to develop as many backlinks as possible. These links can come from reciprocal link exchanges, directories, articles, and a slew of many other sources. The key is to gradually build a large collection of inbound links which specifically target key words. The bottom line is, links are essential to your websites success.

The Top Ways to Increase Your Traffic

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

1. Search Engines

Optimize your website to be search-engine friendly. Submit it to various search engines and directories.
In addition to major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN, it’s worth submitting to lesser known web directories. If your website is listed in as many places as possible, it can boost your rankings in major search engines as well.

2. Affiliate Program

Set up an affiliate program where you pay people a percentage of each sale for referring customers to you.
Spread the word about your affiliate program by submitting it to affiliate program directories and contacting the owners of related websites.

3. Link Exchanges

Create a links page that will contain the links to other non-competing websites in the same industry.
Contact the owners of other websites with your proposal to exchange links. You will add their link to your links page, and they will link to your website in return.

4. Post In Forums

Visit the online discussion forums where people in your target market like to gather. Post useful responses to people’s questions, and include a link to your website at the end of your post next to your name.

5. Comment On Blogs

Visit other people’s blogs on the topic related to your website. Most blogs allow you to add comments about the issues being discussed.
Add insightful comments about the blog topics, and leave your website link. Your comment and your link will permanently remain on the blog website.

6. E-Mail Signatures

Create an e-mail “signature” – your name, your website address and a short tagline describing the main benefit of your site. Set your e-mail program to automatically add your signature to every e-mail that you send.

7. Traffic Exchanges

There are many times of traffic exchanges but the idea is the same – you team up with other webmasters, and they send you traffic in exchange for you sending them traffic. Search the web for “traffic exchange” to find those services.

8. “Pass-Around” Strategy

Create something of value that people will pass around. It can be a report with useful information that you allow people to give away. It can also be some kind of cool and unusual webpage that people will want to e-mail to all their friends.
Of course, the pass-around item will include your advertisement and your link, spreading the word about your website.

9. Writing Articles

Write articles on the topic related to your website, and include a link to your site in your author bio. Submit your articles to article directories, and allow people to publish your article in their newsletters and websites.
Your articles will spread around the web like wildfire. People will read them and visit your website.
The best part is that people who read your articles will regard you as an expert, and they will be much more likely to buy from you when they go to your website. How’s that for a free publicity?

5 Innovative Ways To Advertise Your Web Site

Friday, September 26th, 2008

1. Directory Linking
Create a directory of web sites on a specific topic.
Give people the option of adding the directory to
their web site by linking to it. Put your business
advertisement at the top of the director’s home
page. This technique will get lots of people to link
to your web site and give you free advertising.

2. Bonus Advertising
Do you have a product or service that doesn’t sell
good? Offer it as a free bonus for someone else’s
product or service. Get free advertising by placing
your web site or business ad on the product or in
the product package.

3. Autoresponder Trade
Trade autoresponder ads with other businesses.
If both of you send out information with auto-
responders just exchange a small classified ad
to put at the bottom or top of each other’s
autoresponder message.

4. Tip Line
Start a free tip line. Offer a free daily, weekly, or
monthly tip recorded on your voice mail. The tips
should be related to your business. Include your ad
for your web site or business at the beginning or
end of your message.

5. Content Swap
Exchange content with other web sites and ezines.
You could trade articles, top ten lists, etc. Both
parties could include a resource box at the end of
the content.
