Retired Surgeon Joel Roskind MD to Consult on Business of Medicine
Thursday, March 4th, 2010Plastic surgeon Dr. Joel Roskind, who ran a large, successful clinic on Long Island before moving to Miami to consult, has returned to the New York area to instruct, consult and pursue a personal interest in Judaic spirituality. Dr. Joel Roskind, also returns to Boston University Medical School, where he has instructed previously, to teach a case management class called Integrated Problems.
Dr. Joel Roskind has been a medical renaissance man throughout his occupation. After completing his bachelors degree at Franklin and Marshall College and Hofstra University, medical school at the University of Louisville and internships at the Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx and St. Louis University Hospitals, he went on to a fellow ship at the Christine Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky.
He has previously taught at Boston University, the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, University of California, San Diego and Cornell Medical School. He is also the former Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor or Surgery at the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He assisted in the U. S. Navy as part of a three-man plastic surgery team, and during that time traveled to Mexico to do surgery on deprived children with congenital deformities.
Joel Roskind will also draw on his clinical experience to instruct Integrated Problems at Boston University. The course will cover complex problems in differential diagnosis, a subject with which he is intimately familiar. Dr. Roskind also brings a wealth of expertise in practice management, which deals with business aspects of medicine, such as hiring and training staff, setting up electronic systems and patient relations.
Joel Roskind looks forward to bringing his expertise to a broader audience of medical scholars, practicing physicians and surgeons and operators of ambulatory surgery facilities. In what assures to be a very active retirement, Joel Roskind MD also plans to pursue studies in Judaic spirituality.
