The City’s Blueprint – from the Drafting Table
Sunday, June 28th, 2009If you look at a typical Chinese city, you will see scores, perhaps hundreds, of cranes raising tall buildings. The important constituent in the construction of such buildings is steel. Steel structures are the backbone of every urban center.
Before a building can be constructed, the building must be planned. And this is where steel structure drafting has its introduction. Structural detailing design is essential to the safety of everyone involved – those labouring on the construction site, and those finally living in the building. A huge amount of preparation is necessary in order to gratify safety regulations while matching all the stipulations the client and architect have defined.
A steel detailing designer is required to know all about force and pressure – allowing the structure to yield to external forces, and when to withstand such pressures, to maximize the integrity of the construction. A building must also resist huge weights, and so this must also be taken into account. From the weight of snow to wind speed, a steel structure detailer has to consider all kinds of external forces.
In the modern world, there are more and more demands for creative building designs, meaning the detailer can often be forced to take on tough designs and seek to translate them into a secure working space for thousands of individuals.
Still, it’s not all bad for the detailer – computer software like Asteel, Tekla Steel and AutoCad have helped hurry up the procedure of drafting and detailing structures.
