Making Advertising Work with Xavier Buyse

Across the globe the public are becoming increasingly blind to advertising. It is becoming ever more important to be able to target consumers much more precisely – something which mobile adverts can do very well; and something Xavier Buyse CEO of ADS Media has built his business around. On average, Americans are subject to some 3000 essentially random sales pitches per day. Two-thirds of people canvassed in a huge case study said they felt “constantly bombarded” by advertising, and many said the adverts they see have little or no engagement value. No wonder so many consumers hate and ignore adverts, and so many business owners feel gun-shy about investing in serious campaigns, which are unlikely to resonate with their target audience.

In recent times the ability to target specific groups of consumers has changed. The World Wide Web has begun to change all that. The ability to gauge the reach of an advertisement simply by counting the volume of people that click on it, and to link advertisements to search-engine results, in large part drove Internet advertising to $9.6 billion in 2004, a 44% improvement from 2002.the marketing industry has long been a sort of black art with a far from transparent Return On Investment, and the reason for this is very simple: It’s very hard for a client to determine who it is who actually views their adverts, let alone if the ads have any influence on anyone or not. Even though businesses spend a third of a trillion dollars a year on advertising, those ads often end up being irrelevant to the people who see them.

Although some of the biggest developments in advertising have happened online, a lot of of the new techniques are already making their way onto billboards and even into peoples pockets around the world with the advent of mobile advertising. Every advertiser hopes that it won’t be long before businesses will be able to routinely and cheaply run advertising campaigns that hit exactly the right correct people.

With the news that Google is set to buy mobile ad company Admob things could really get competitive for Xavier Buyse and the mobile ad space. The development of this space is also evident in the growing space for mobile touch screen devices. Touch screen is something at the moment most people associate with the iPhone which has outsold every other phone in the market with its smooth design and easy to use interface. In such a quickly expanding market though there is nothing to say that this trend will carry on as other big players see the opportunity to carve themselves a piece of the pie.
